Wow! It was such a pleasure hosting TECH & TACOS today with our partner, Public Consulting Group, and our sponsor, Datto. At HST, we love connecting with new folks and catching up with our clients and partners. Attendees participated in an engaging panel discussion about preparation for data backup, recovery and business continuity.
Some Important Facts . . .
According to a NFIB National Small Business poll, man-made disasters affect 10 percent of all small businesses. And a staggering 30 percent have been impacted by natural disasters. A simple power outage could put your whole business at risk. In fact, only 6 percent of companies suffering from a catastrophic data loss survive, according to research by the University of Texas. 43 percent of businesses never reopen, and 51 percent close within two years.
Planning for the unknown can be difficult. But having enough funds to implement an IT disaster recovery plan can seem close to impossible. How unlikely is it that an IT disaster will happen to your company? With the combination of natural disasters, hardware failures and human error, the reality is that data loss is only a matter of when, not if.
Meet and Greet
The TECH & TACOS Meetup started with an informal Meet and Greet session where attendees were able to chat with panel members, Doug (from HST) and Jerry (from PCG). After that, attendees were treated to a delicious taco lunch catered by BlackFinn, while being able to continue conversations and networking.
Partner Panel
Doug and Jerry led a lively Q&A about the about the importance of data backup and how to have a Business Continuity plan in place that you KNOW works. Questions came from HST and the audience. Doug and Jerry spoke about proper ways to backup your business data and how to make sure those systems work. Jerry also provided information about how to secure data in order to make sure your business is in compliance with legal regulations, such as HIPPA.
Final Takeaways
It’s not a matter of IF you will need data recovery, but WHEN. Having a solid plan in place is the best way to prepare! Attendees left with a better understanding of their backup options and steps they could take to improve their current backup systems. Oh, and some pretty nice sawg bags, courtesy of Datto!
Thanks so much to everyone who came out to TECH & TACOS today. We also want to thank our sponsor and our partners! We at HST truly appreciate your continued support!
